REASON BEHIND TONSURING HEADS IN TIRUMALA!

After Kaliyuga started, Vishnu became a man with the name of Srinivasa and came to the Earth and started to search for Lakshmi Devi.
As he was in human form, he had all the feelings like hunger and thirst. So, he fell down under a tree due to fatigue. Humans might not recognize him, but as nature recognized the god, they all came together to protect him by constructing an anthill, from the climatic conditions.

So, Narada went to Lakshmi and said, “Your husband is in anthill”. With the love on her husband', she asked Brahma and Shiva to protect her husband. Then, Brahma became as a cow and Shiva changed into a calf and joined in a group of cows which were wandering there and going to that anthill they pouring the milk there.
The person who was caring for the cows, wondered when all the cows are giving milk, why this cow didn't? Then, he followed the cow and observed that the cow was giving milk to the anthill. He got angry and throw an axe with the anger at the cow. Srinivasa stood between them. He lost his hair due to the attack with the axe.

Another day in search of Lakshmi Devi, he got fatigued and resisted under a tree. Neela Devi, daughter of Goddess saw this, “he is so handsome. Who is he? it's not good to see him without hair. Thinking this she attached some part of hair to him. Then Srinivasa woke up and said, “Dear, Neela Devi why did u do that? I am a man. No problem even if I don't have hair. You gave me your hair even though you are a lady”.

And gave her a boon that his devotees will give her their hair up to the end of the era. That's why many of us give our hair in Tirupati as an offering on the name of devotion.
